Doris Lindemann

I developed a strong interest in painting and drawing very early in life. My native city of Duesseldorf in Germany was a buzzing centre of modern art in the 1960's. By the time I left school in 1972 I had managed to see most of the best-known work by international Surrealists, Abstract Expressionists, and Pop Artists. I was also lucky enough to have a very inspiring and supportive Arts teacher whose influence kept me painting through secondary school and beyond.

In 1978 I gained a Master of Arts degree in English, and a Master of Arts degree in Education, Psychology and Philosophy in 1981. After teaching and lecturing in various schools and colleges, I moved to Connemara in Eire in the mid-eighties.

There I spent time as a student of the Irish School of Landscape Painting, took part in various exhibitions, and later taught painting and drawing in adult education. In 1997 I moved to St Ives where I now live and work.
I am an associate member of the Penwith Society of Artists and a member of the Porthmeor Group, a group of artists committed to experimenting and taking risks with their work, associated to the St Ives School of Painting. I also teach Painting Courses and Classes in St Ives, Cornwall, and in Turkey.

My work is in private collections in England, Eire, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States. Ialso show in several leading Cornish galleries.
